Ian turned 5 months old on Wednesday. I can’t believe it’s been 5 months. He’s going to be mobile before we know it. He’s getting bigger and bigger by the day. His 9 month sleepers are stretched to the fullest. I gave him pears today for the first time. It was his first baby food. He ate it all up!
We’re hopeful to get a new car in the next year, so we decided to go to the car show to get a look at all the cars we like in one place. Beats traveling from dealership to dealership. Ian did really well. He started getting tired towards the end so we found a quiet spot in the Convention Center and just hung out for a few minutes until he calmed down and then we headed home. We got some pictures while we were relaxing in the quiet spot:
I love the 4th picture. It looks like he’s angry and ready to beat someone up “you wanna mess with me!?”
We took Ian to Rosedale Library today to visit the Baby Garden in Storyville. I didn’t get a good nap out of him prior to going so he was cranky after about 30 minutes, but we had fun until then! Anyone with a little one, I highly recommend visiting, it’s such a neat place!
Unfortunately since he didn’t get good naps prior to going, he has been super cranky today, and pretty much refused to nap. I think it was a combo of the poor naps this morning along with over stimulation, because man was he distracted by everything going on around the place!
I just would like to point out, in that last picture, I am not touching him, he’s balancing himself! Even though he’s a little upset about it.
Loyola closed today because of the gross weather, so we have a day at home with Ian. I put him in his bumbo and sat him in front of his bounce-a-roo to play with dangling toys and he decided he didn’t want to play with them, he wanted to play with his feet instead! And then some toys that I handed him.
Ian has been Mr. Happy Baby lately, even without taking good naps. I probably shouldn’t say it because I’ll jinx it and he’ll get crabby again. I forgot to update after his 4 month well baby visit. He weighed 17.5 lbs and was 27.5 inches long. His personality is showing itself more and more every day, and he’s turning out to be a very stubborn little man with his own mind!
Here are some pictures of him cuddling with Teddy Spaghetti:
This is what happens if we change his diaper anywhere but his changing table:
We put Ian in his bounce-a-roo for the first time yesterday, and this morning he decided he liked the frog a whole whole lot. Now whenever we put him in it he tries to eat the frog. I thought it was funny so I taped it!
It seems like Ian has been learning new things almost everday. I’ve been pulling him up from a laying position to a sitting position to get him used to it. He loves sitting up like a big boy. We’ve done it so much that he can now sit up on his own propped up on the couch, and when we pull him up now he holds his neck solid and tries to help pull himself up. He loves his Bumbo chair now too, it’s like he sees the world in a whole new way. He’s playing with his hands more then ever before and he started sucking his thumb!!! On Thanksgiving he started trying to roll over from his back to his belly, but he had a hard time with his shoulder, he wasn’t sure what to do with it, but today he conquered the shoulder! The video below starts from him on his side, but he was on his back, I just wasn’t quick enough with the record button. He’ll be rolling everywhere soon!
